At Sunnyside Pediatric Dentistry we are dedicated to ensuring all children have access to oral health care and education. We participate in a number of ongoing activities designed to give back.
Candy Buy-Back Program
Every year, in the days following Halloween, our office participates in the National Candy-Buy-Back Program. As part of this initiative, we pay kids $1 per 1 pound of candy brought to our office then donate it to Operation Gratitude where it is packed in boxes and shipped to our troops abroad.

Supporting Global Dental Relief
To help kids around the globe gain access to the tools they need for good oral health and wellness, Sunnyside donates $10 to Global Dental Relief for each new patient we see. Our goal is to donate a minimum of $2,500 a year. That's enough to bring first-time dental care to 250 children in one of their partner schools.
The mission of Global Dental Relief is to bring free dental care to children around the globe, in Nepal, India, Guatemala, Kenya, and Cambodia. Teams of volunteer dentists, hygienists, assistants, and general volunteers deliver treatment and preventive care in dental clinics that serve children in schools, orphanages, and remote villages.
"Dental clinics consume large quantities of supplies. Our projects use 15,000 toothbrushes a year! We are on a mission to provide children around the world with much-needed dental care, and we invite you to join our cause."
By establishing your dental home with us and referring your friends, you are helping kids around the world achieve healthier smiles.
Working at the Community Health Center
In addition to treating patients at her own practice, Dr. Sophie spends 2 days a week at the Santa Rosa Community Health Center where she cares for their pediatric patient population with the most complex and advanced treatment needs.
Working closely with the Behavioral Healthcare team at the health center, she has reduced the number of children under 7 requiring general anesthesia for dental care from nearly 40% to less than 5%. She also supports the General Dentists in the clinic by providing training and education to further develop their skills in treating pediatric patients.
Educating the Marin Community
Dr. Sophie and her team are passionate about educating our local community. We gladly work with schools, community centers, summer camps, and parents to deliver group programming that aims to develop and maintain optimal oral wellness in our community. During these sessions, Dr. Sophie gives a fun interactive age appropriate oral wellness presentation free of charge.
Want to get outside of the classroom? Schedule a field trip and come to us! Dr. Sophie loves showing small groups of kids around our office and talking about oral health and what it's like to be a pediatric dentist.
